A Major Announcement!
Carl Schurz Park Conservancy
to Renovate the Large Dog Run
Coming this Summer:
With your help, we have an opportunity to transform our dirty, dusty run into an oasis of green.
This major renovation will replace the crushed granite surface with top quality synthetic turf. The work will take approximately two weeks.
The materials, which exceed industry standards, are guaranteed for 25 years, PFAS free, drain and dry quickly and require minimal maintenance.
This product also incorporates heat-resistant technologies making it more safe and comfortable for pets, especially during hot weather.
It has been used with great success at Thompkins Square Park and many other locations in New York City.
This will be a major infrastructure project funded by the Conservancy, with a cost of close to $300,000. Please donate today.

The Current Run:

Carl Schurz Park has two fenced-in runs, the only areas in the Park where unleashed dogs can exercise and play. These highly acclaimed runs are the result of efforts by local City officials, NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, and Carl Schurz Park Conservancy.
This site is dedicated to keeping all two and four-legged users informed and engaged.
Carl Schurz Park Conservancy maintains the Dog Runs. We provide funding for weekly sanitization throughout the year, and bi-annually resurfacing.
We rely on donations to keep the dog runs clean and in working order. Funds go towards replacing substrate and repairing walls, fences, benches, gates and drainage. We also buy new materials and tools for basic repair and upkeep.
The total cost for maintaining the two Dog Runs is approximately $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 annually, which is solely provided by Carl Schurz Park Conservancy individual donors.
The runs are open during normal park hours. Please note: they are closed to the general public each Wednesday and Thursday between 12:15 pm and 1:15 pm for use by the ASPCA.
Before visiting, please read the rules for our two runs.
